I have been passionate about art photography since childhood, but took time away from this pursuit during my early adult years. During this time I authored a book on vintage studio photography: "The Dog Album; Studio Portraits of Dogs and Their People", but had little time to make my own images.
Recently I have scaled back my career to half-time so that I can revisit my childhood dream of being a photographic artist. I have taken course work locally and nationally to enhance my technical skills and artistic vision. I enjoy making studied images, exploring philosophical ideas, making images while traveling, but mainly making more spontaneous contemplative color work as a form of visual meditation. This type of photography is known as "Miksang" photography and more on this can be found at the main Miksang web site
While I started as a strictly large format, black and white, traditional darkroom photographer, I have now transitioned away from the darkroom. I have embraced the digital world both with camera and printing. I am extremely pleased with both the quality of the prints and the working style of this new method.
I live in Portland, Oregon with my wife Lorraine and my yellow Labrador Tika.
